Puzzles Galore With Brix DS For The Nintendo DS And Nintendo R4 Card
I love having the ability to write about the Nintendo R4 Card and NDS homebrew games in general. I’m a huge fan of Nintendo R4 DS homebrew games and equally a fan of homebrew applications for the DS and DSi. I am always so very surprised at what hard wroking developers of these homebrew games are willing to give away and put out for free, for all of us to take pleasure from. They don’t do this for money, they don’t really do it to be a commercial success – as they’re releasing it for free. They do it just simply because they want to make games, and love to have people play those games. And of course, I am sure they love having thousands and thousands of homebrew gamers download and play their games.
And speaking of NDS homebrew games, there’s a new game I happened to find (and quickly downloaded) last week called Brix DS. I love puzzled games, especially puzzle games that steer clear of your normal puzzler and offer up something unique. You know, not the mainstream – match these three colors or shapes to have the disappear type of puzzle games, but puzzle games that lend themselves to trying out something totally new and unique. Brix DS offers up just the kind of puzzle game I love, unique, different, great graphics and excellent puzzles. Brix DS in it’s third version – and Brix DS V3. has only gotten better. V3 of Brix DS brings the entire number of stages to 73, with the addition of the 16 new stages that were added in this version.
The principle of Brix DS is simple: do not drop dynamite on the ground, and remove all the gray bricks level by level, simply by touching them with the stylus. Beating each stage may sound simple, but it gets harder and harder as you are required to take into account where the dynamite might fall if you remove certain bricks. To make things a bit more difficult, it is not possible to remove the gray brick in the chain: a re-charging will be done between the removal of 2 different bricks. You may look at this and thing “That’s easy, I could balance the dynamite by removing these two bricks”, but the fact of the matter is, you cannot just remove the bricks one after the other, you need to wait while your player re-charges to be able ot break the next brick.
The challenge of course is great for a puzzle game. You’ll find yourself whipping through the first few levels, and then be pleasantly surprised that you have to try harder and harder as you move to the higher levels. The game has fantastic replay value, though that’s true of most good puzzle games, and if you’re lucky enough to have a Nintendo R4 DS card you can start playing it for free right away.
The absolutely best featur of this game is how the developer supports it with constant updates. In fact, several dozen new levels have been added since it’s v1 release, and V3 proves that this trend will continue. And naturally, just as the game itself, each of these updates is completely free to all Nintendo R4 DS Card gamers. You will not have to spend a single dollar to get any of the new updates or new levels that are planned and being worked on by the developer Show me any commercial Nintendo DS or DSi game that can boast the same.
